Move-out day guide to protect your deposit

Leaving a property well makes deposit returns faster and smoother.

1) Cleaning to inventory standard

• Kitchen: oven, hob, extractor, fridge/freezer, cabinets inside/out, sink, tiles
• Bathroom: limescale, grout, glass, toilet, basin, sealant
• Floors, skirting, windows (where safe), doors and handles
• Remove all rubbish and food

2) Repairs and bulbs

• Replace spent bulbs
• Fill minor picture hook holes if appropriate

3) Final meter readings

• Gas, electricity, water – photograph readings and serials
• Send to suppliers, request final bills to your forwarding address

4) Garden and outside areas (where applicable)

• Mow lawns, tidy borders, sweep patios/balconies, clear bins

5) Final inventory/check‑out

• Be present where possible
• Return all keys/fobs and note quantities
